Gainesville, Fla. – Florida women’s basketball will welcome Southern Conference opponent Furman to a tap Monday night at 6:00 p.m. ET at the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.
The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis on the phone. Ryan Urquhart and Jennifer George take over radio duties on 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.
It has now been four straight games in which the Gators have had four athletes score in double figures. The Gators haven’t had that much offensive diversity since the 2016-17 season, the last time Florida hit four or more points in double figures four straight times, which happened against Indiana (12/20/16). , Florida A&M (12/21/16), Southeast Louisiana (12/28/16) and Auburn (1/1/2017).

Florida women’s basketball is nearing its 800th win as a program and currently holds 791 in its 49-year history. If the Gators pull off the feat, they will become the 13th SEC to surpass the 800-win threshold, with Mississippi State also tracking the performance and owning 775 wins as a program going into the 2022-23 season.

Under the leadership of Kelly Rae Finley, Florida’s defense will always be a focus. To prove this point, the Gators possess a perfect 15-0 mark under Finely when holding opponents to 60 points or less.
DEFENSE “HACK DOWN”.
After the first two games of the season, UF had forced 63 turnovers in addition to 38 steals. The 38 steals recorded in the first two games were the most in a two-game span since recording 39 in back-to-back games against Florida A&M and Southeastern Louisiana in 2016, while the 63 forced turnovers were the highest since the same period were they recorded 69 in those two matchups.
After four games, the Gators are second in the SEC in revenue strength per game, forcing a 25.0 average, which is also good for 24th place nationally. They’ve also forced 20 or more turnovers in three of their first four games of the season, the first time since 2015-16 they’ve opened a season on this defensive display.
The Gators found themselves in a fight with public enemy Bethune-Cookman on Friday. Nina Rickards scored a career-high 21 points to push the Orange & Blue past the Wildcats 82-73 after a strong final frame.
