The NJSGA Community Celebrates Fundraising Tuesday, November 29 | New Jersey State Golf Association | NJSGA

KENILWORTH, NJ – The New Jersey State Golf Association’s Caddy Scholarship Foundation is preparing for this year’s Giving Tuesday fundraiser, an annual opportunity for members of the NJSGA community to give back and support caddies pursuing higher education. Giving Tuesday is scheduled for November 29, 2022.

“The New Jersey golf community is very proud of its longstanding tradition of generosity and commitment to providing educational opportunities to young men and women,” said Jeff Knapp, development director of the NJSGA’s Caddy Scholarship Foundation. “Last year, the NJSGA community contributed $1.2 million to provide scholarships for caddies pursuing a college education, and I invite golfers and friends of the game to ‘Keep the Caddy in Golf’ and kick off the season of giving with a donation in support of the Caddy Scholarship Foundation,” Knapp said.

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages people to do good and support charities and organizations. By participating in #GivingTuesday, you support New Jersey caddies, their experiences and education.

For over 74 years, the NJSGA Caddy Scholarship Foundation has been a shining light in providing financial support to caddies from deserving member clubs pursuing higher education. Since 1947, it has awarded more than $16 million in college scholarships to nearly 3,100 caddies. For the 2022-23 academic year, the Foundation will provide over $673,000 in scholarships to 152 caddies. Caddy Scholars are selected based on their academic merit, financial need, and the length and quality of their service as a caddy. Scholarships can be extended for up to four years of undergraduate study. The 152 Caddy Scholars for the academic year 2022/23 represent 86 universities.

The NJSGA accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards for online donations. For donations over $5,000 please contact Jeffrey Knapp at 908-241-4653. Please note that the Caddy Scholarship Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charity and as such all contributions are fully deductible for income tax purposes.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as America’s Day of Philanthropy and Giving in response to Black Friday and holiday consumerism. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement, inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give generosity, collaborate and celebrate.
