NFL Week 11 Game Recap: Detroit Lions 31, New York Giants 18 | NFL news, rankings and statistics

After narrowly winning so many times this season, the New York Giants fell into a hole in Week 11 that they couldn’t dig themselves out of. The Detroit Lions walked away with a 31-18 win, twice beating quarterback Daniel Jones in the process.

Offensive Spotlight: It was once again Jamaal Williams’ show around the goal line. Williams hit a quarter of his 12 carries on Sunday. That now gives him 12 NFL-leading points in the season, and he shouldn’t even be the starter heading into 2022.

He wasn’t the only one in the Lions backfield to have a tag. Justin Jackson had 39 yards on eight carries, while D’Andre Swift added 18 yards on three carries.

Defensive Spotlight: The Lions’ defensive line has been heavily maligned this season, but the unit showed up in big style to end the Giants’ running game. Chief among them was sophomore Alim McNeill. He led all players in the game with three running stops. That paled in comparison to his performance as a pass rusher. McNeil also led all players in the game with seven presses in a dominant performance.

Beginner Spotlight: Giants second-round wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson had by far his best game as a pro. He led all players in the game for 100 yards on nine receptions. Though he also dropped a pass, Robinson still displayed the kind of momentum that the Giants’ receiving corps has lacked.

Two defensive rookies continued to shine on the side of the lions. Aidan Hutchinson scored an important interception and two run stops while Kerby Joseph continued his game at high level in coverage. The rookie safety didn’t allow a single catch all day and had a pick himself.

Line of Scrimmage in the Spotlight: The Giants’ inside offensive line was mistreated Sunday. They combined to take 11 pressure off between the three – Mark Glowinski allowed four, Jon Feliciano two and Shane Lemieux five. At least Andrew Thomas did his job at left tackle. He didn’t let pressure 42 pass-blocking snaps for the second game in a row.
